In our country, with the development of city air pollution is becoming serious.Environment pollution prevent the development of economic and damage human health. The monitoring of contaminations is very important, it is good to prevent pollution.In the paper, the samples of Total Suspended Particles(TSP) were collected in Urumqi Xinshi district . Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs), mercury (Hg), lead(Pd) and cadmium(Cd) were analyzed.The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in TSP samples were analyzed using GC/MS(SIS) technique. Coupled with soxhlet extraction and silicagel column chromatographic separation techniques. The method of mixed standard curves were used to quantitatively determine 16 PAHs in TSP samples.The result showed that : the concentration of Bap was higher than the national standard of China (10 ng m-3,GB3095-1996).Compared with other cities at home , the concentration of Bap was not very high. The figure of the PAHs relative concentration showed that in the same site, there was no obvious fluctuation in different seasons. PAHs ratios are used to identify the source of PAHs, the result showed that the major source of 16 PAHs in Urumqi Xinshi district was coal-bustion and vehicle discharges . Mercury in TSP samples were digested by aqua regia and analyzed by AFS analyzer .The results showed that : the concentration of mercury was 0.869-1.91 ng m-3.Compared with other cities in the rest of the world , the concentration of mercury was very high. The concentration of mercury in heating season was lower than that in no-heating season. This is against expectation.The concentration of lead and cadmium were digested by HNO3-HClO4 and analyzed by AAS analyzer. The result showed that : the concentration of lead was 0.244|ìg m-3,the concentration of cadmium 0.007|ìg m-3. They were lower than the national standard of China and other cities in our country.
