Nylon 66 was applied extensively in the filed of engineering plastics and fibers because of its excellent properties since its industrial preparation was invented. The output and demand increased all along. There were much more work on modifying nylon 66 because of the economy development and the more requirement and the competition with other engineering plastics on properties and value. Filling minerals in nylon 66 was a maturity and effective method, and had very wide foreground. In this paper, we chose vermiculite as filler, which had special properties, and prepared a series of nylon 66/vermiculite composites. Extrusive technical terms, surface modification and content influence on its mechanical properties had been thoroughly studied; non-isothermal crystallization by means of DSC; the conformation of nylon 66 by WAXD; the rheological properties of composites; and the vermiculite disperse on nylon 66 by means of SEM.It was an effective physical method to improve the mechanical properties of nylon 66 and melting processing with little influence on its structure by means of nucleating agent. We chose nylon 46 and different granularity of talcum powder and prepared a series of nylon 66/nucleating agent composites. The influence of nylon 46 on the melting process and crystalline structure of nylon 66 was studied, as well as the granularity and surface modification of talcum powder influenced the melting process and mechanical properties of nylon 66.The primary results are as followed.In the four kinds of surface modification, vermiculite modified with titanium acid ester and stearic acid had the best effect on its strength improvement of nylon 66; twice extrusion had better mechanical properties than once.Vermiculite improved the tensile and crooked strength.
