Soil is not only an important component of ecological environment but also one of the major resources on which human being lives. With the development of society and economy and speeding up of the urbanization course, the overspreading of cities and traffic construction, the discharge and exudation of industrial pollution, the unreasonable utilization of sludge and rubbish in cities and overusing pesticide and fertilizer which contain heavy mental have made the pollution of soil more and more serious. Because the heavy metal pollution to soil of concealment and has long time effects to soil, the treatment of soil is very difficult. These contaminations are potentially harmful to the environment and human health. Soil is polluted by some of those contaminations as a result of both natural environments and human activities. To prevent and cure the heavy contamination in soils is a heated and difficult problem in the world. The Three Gorges Reservoir is a extremely large reservoir adjustable annually which will be completed in 2009. The normal level of water is 175m, and it will be decreased to the controlling flood limit which is 145m. This management method for The Three Gorges Reservoir, which has a perpendicular height of 30m, will form a draw-down zone around The Three Gorges Reservoir. The draw-down zone of The Three Gorges Reservoir occupied cultivated lands of 17506.7hm~2, the submerged soil of this area is the source of the polluter and it also can affect the water quality of Three-Gorges reservoir area.In order to protect the water quality in the reservoir and the aquatic ecosystem, and to satisfy the needs of water for production and living within and at the downstream of the reservoir area., it is crucial to make a careful study of the situations of heavy metal pollutions...
