Alumina-magnesia precast blocks are increasingly used in ladle linings owe to their excellent slag corrosion and penetration resistance properties and thermal shock resistance and ease of installation. Then, alumina magnesia precast blocks bonded by hydratable alumina were studied in this paper, the main contents includes the following parts:Firstly, the properties of castables with different binders such as hydratable alumina and calcium aluminate cement were comparatively investigated. Secondly, the matrix constitute and aggregate constitute such as fused white corundum and fused bauxite-corundum and bauxite of castables were investigated. Finally, influence on flow properties of castables with different dispersants and different additions were investigated.The experimental results show that the castables bonded by hydratable alumina have more excellent slag corrosion and penetration resistance properties, and being well at thermal shock resistance than that of castables bonded by calcium aluminate cement. Further, in the matrix constitutes, adding 5%α-Al2O3 micro powders, 4% magnesia fines and 0.51% micro silicon are considered that castables can attain excellent properties. It is aslo proved, with experimental results, castables using fused white corundum as aggregate have good integrated performance, but the castables using fused bauxite-corundum as aggregate are endowed with good ration of properties to cost. In the last part, sodium hexametahposphate and FDN are proved to be good as dispersants applied to castables, and proper coagulant agent additon can enhance the cold module of rupture of castables.However, deeply ascertaining the hydraulic characteristic of hydratable alumina, controlling the time of initial and final coagulant, lowering water addition and enhancing the strength of castable after demould are necessary to further research.
