There is coexistence region of a-Mg and quasicrystal in Mg-Zn-RE ternary alloy system, which is of great significance engineer for developing high-performance Mg-Zn-RE alloys that contain quasicrystal. Quasicrystalline particles can be distributed dispersedly in magnesium alloy matrix to obtain high-performance Mg-based alloys through conventional cast and sequent hot work process which are strengthened by in-situ quasicrystalline particles. Mg65.5Zn33Y1.5 alloy was chosen to investigate the effects of quenching, multi-compression at high temperature and aging treatment on morphology of Mg-Zn-Y quasicrystal.
