Nano-SiO2 has attracted much attention in resent years as a novel type of inorganic materials because of its excellent property. However the high surface activity of nano-SiO2 induces strong agglomeration, that resulting in the formation of large agglomerate with weak interacted interfaces. And the hydrophilicity of its surface makes it difficult to be dispersed uniformly in organic medium. Therefore, its practical application is much restricted. Accordingly, the key that nano-SiO2 can be applied widely lies in modifying the surface of nano-SiO2 for the purpose of eliminating agglomeration and improving dispersity in organic solvents.The first part of work this reports that nano-SiO2 was uniformly coated with Al(OH)3, and then modified by neopelex, which improved the surface structure and dispersity. The influence of pH value, dispersant content, drying condition and so on on coating result during the process of inorganic coating were studied.
