The grafting modification of acrylate fluoride series monomers onto silk fibers in aqueous systems was studied as concerns as the characters of silk fiber structure, in which the pre-emulsification method was used and potassium persulfate (KPS) as the initiator.Firstly, the formulation of the pre-emulsification and technics of emulsification was optimized by changing the formulations of emulsifier. Silk fiber was grafted and the effects of various parameters on graft yield, such as concentration of monomer and initiator, pH value, reaction time and reaction temperature were studied.Furthermore, the application performance of grafted silk fiber was studied in this paper, such as the whiteness, mechanical performance, the water- and oil-repellence properties etc. And other analysis methods, such as infrared spectroscopy (IR), wide-angle X-ray diffraction patterns(WAXD), scanning electron micrograph photographs(SEM), Raman spectrum, amino acid analysis and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR), were used to study the structure of grafted silk fiber. The results of the study indicated that the silk fiber grafted with hexafluorobutyl mathacrylate obtained super water–repellence, and grafted with dodecafluoroheptyl methacrylate obtained excellent water- and oil-repellence.
