As the fresh water resource reduce increasingly and all over the world attach importance to environmental protection gradually, people give more and more notice to the development of the water treatment flocculants. Flocculants can increase solid / liquid desperation efficiency, and have been applied to many industry regions. Cationic polymeric flocculants which can dissolve in water very well are a kind of efficacious medicaments, and have good application in water treatment, paper manufacture, smelt mineral and so on. Therefore, to look for efficiently and multi-function polymeric cationic flocculants is one of the point research contents of the environmental science and the engineering realm nowadays.Based on the analysis and generalization of existent macromolecular cationic organic flocculants preparation and flocculation property research, regarding the chain of PAM as main chain, then on the amido formaldehyde and diethylenetriamine occur amine graft reaction under the alkaline condition, and gain a kind of cationic organic macromolecular flocculants XPAM. In addition, with the same synthetic condition, we replace diethylamine and di-n-butylamine with diethylenetriamine, and obtain four kinds of flocculants CPAM,DPAM,C' PAM and D' PAM, and contrast the disposal effect of high turbidity water with these synthetic flocculants. Based on the experiment research, different factors such as ratio of materials, temperature, reaction time, pH and so on, which influence performance of flocculants were investigated. The optimum condition of synthesis was obtained, and the synthetic mechanism of this flocculants XPAM and its chelating mechanism also were discussed in this paper. With optimum synthetic condition, the molecular weight of novel flocculants XPAM is greater than 5,000,000, and function of product is stable.According to the water body characteristic of high turbidty of water, oily waste water and heavy metals waste water, we choose to use the flocculants XPAM as the main flocculants to process above-mentioned three kinds of waste water.
