In the process of traditional salt production, magnesium-enriched liquid bittern was drained, and in the process of sodium carbonate production, carbonate-enriched cooling water was not used reasonably. Those effluents have polluted the nearby environment. Thus, to reduce the industrial pollution, current production processes urged to be improved by using cleaner production. From the point of using cleaner production process to improve the Solvay process in the plants with ammonia- soda processes, and on the basis of referring to domestic and abroad studies, we proposed a new method for the preparation high purity magnesium hydroxide carbonate: to prepare magnesium hydroxide carbonate from the soda industry by the following reaction of CO3- (from cooling water) with magnesium (from bittern).5Mg2++ 5CO32- + 5H2O→4MgCO3·Mg(OH)2·4H2O↓+CO2↑During the process of preparing magnesium hydroxide carbonate from the bittern and cooling water, we investigated the effects of reaction conditions (material mother liquor kind, the material liquid mix method, reaction time, temperature et al) on the production and application of magnesium hydroxide carbonate. The physical form of magnesium hydroxide carbonate was detected by X Redial Diffraction method. We also detected the magnesium hydroxide carbonate particle's micro-shape with a scanning electron microscope. Also the main impurity of products and the magnesium hydroxide carbonate content were detected by the atom absorption spectrum, ICP, colorimetry and chemical analysis. The experiment results showed that the desired reaction conditions was as follows: the reactant should choose the cooling liquid of ammonium evaporation to prepare the magnesium hydroxide carbonate; the mix of material liquid adopted the dripping way; the reactant ratio was 3:4; the reaction time was about 60 min, the reaction temperature was 60℃, stir was needed; the aging time was about 24 h. The magnesium hydroxide carbonate can be constant weight after drying 78h at 130~...
