Activating flux TIG welding (A-TIG welding) is a variant TIG welding coating activating fluxes on surface of plate. A-TIG welding can greatly increase welding penetration, comparing to conventional TIG welding, consequentially improve productivity, save energy sources and solve main problem of TIG welding. Therefore, the application of the welding method in actual production is very important. Researches have been carried out in this paper on The manufacture technology of activating flux coated wire of titanium alloy and the welding technology of Ti31 titanium alloy pipe with conventional TIG welding and A-TIG welding.The manufacture technology of activating flux coated wire is studied in this paper. The coat dope mixed by activating fluxes and water glass which selected as the glue is coated on the wire with whorl, and subsequently air-dried. The wire manufactured in this method is accorded with request.The welding effect of activating flux coated wire is studied in this paper. The experimental results show that the penetration can be significantly increased by activating flux coated wire welding, comparing to conventional TIG welding and A-TIG welding. The research results indicate that welding penetration increases firstly and later decrease along with increase of coating quantity, and the welding penetration and width increases along with increase of welding current, but the weld mechanical properties are excellent. The experiments show activating flux coated wire may be used in the practice. The interior protective device is designed and the exterior protective mantle is improved for the welding of Ti31 titanium alloy pipe with given structure. The experiments show the protective effect of welding by using the two devices is excellent and they can be manipulated conveniently in the practice.The welding technology of Ti31 titanium alloy pipe with conventional TIG welding and A-TIG welding is studied in this paper. The welding technology parameter and bevel form is obtained,and the experiments show A-TIG welding is more efficient than conventional TIG welding.
