Continuous extrusion process of copper has applied widely in commercial run with its superiority. Continuous Extrusion Research Center of Dalian Jiaotong University, through secular hard research, has exploited successfully the integrated set of continuous extrusion equipment of copper. At present, the continuous extrusion production lines of copper, which is composed of the above equipment and other subsidiary facilities, has reached a high automatic extent. In the process, the key control technology is to utilize the fuzzy control technology to autocontrol the continuous extrusion process of copper. But building the fuzzy rules is hard, and the ability of self-adapting and self-study are poor in the fuzzy control technology. So we have attempted to apply the BP Neural Network Technology to improve further the automatic-control ability of the continuous extrusion process of copper.We have designed the spindle-speed automatic-control program of the continuous extrusion set of copper, with present production lines controlling system, and analyzed the main factors, which affect on the continuous extrusion process. We have built a data acquisition interface, using kingview and monitored control system of production lines developed by kingview, and obtained the basic data of network training through handling a large number of data, which is collected on the installation and trial run of production lines. With MATLAB and neural network tool box, designed neural network has been trough training, simulation and test, and we can adjust and choose proper network parameter and configuration according to the practical situation, until we have more pleased results and the neural network can learn human control behavior well.In order to realize the neural network control to the continuous extrusion production of copper, we have studied the process of the data exchange between PLC on the production line and specific function modular, and exploited VB and MSComm control achieve the transmission between industrial control computer and PLC.
