Heat exchangers are widely used in chemical engineer, food, petroleum, power, metallurgy and energy fields etc. So, the heat transfer enhancement and fouling removing of heat exchanger is of great significance to energy saving. Now, there are so many technologies of heat transfer enhancement and fouling removing, but the most of them can realize only one kind function, while the technologies which can both enhance heat transfer and resist fouling are very few. This paper researches a new kindtechnology------the miniature hydraulic turbine (MHT), which can realize the foulingresisting/preventing on-line, constant and automatic, and can realize heat transfer enhancement at the same time.Firstly, an experimental investigation on the rotational speed properties, the flow resistance properties and the heat transfer properties of MHT are introduced. The rotational tests show that the relation between the rotating speed of MHT and the flowing velocity is approximating linear, and the rotating speed increases while the flowing velocity increases. At the same time, MHT can start work at low flowing velocity with high rotating speed, little pressure drop and big operated elasticity. The heat transfer tests show that compared with the heat transfer coefficients without insert, the heat transfer coefficients of MHT increase by 58%-128%, and about 78.28% on the average. Secondly, using Matlab nonlinear regress and Wilson method, the dimensionless correlations of the Nusselt number are given. Thirdly, throughcomprehensively estimating and analysis finds that the factorφ is alwaysbigger than 1, it indicates that the heat transfer enhancement of MHT is good.In this paper, to the practical application of MHT in the heat exchanger of the neutralized juice in a certain sugar factory, contrast has been done with the plain heat exchanger. Besides, estimation on the fouling resisting/preventing performance of MHT has been given by comparing the scaling situation. The industrial tests prove that with MHT in the heat exchanger tube, the heat exchanger works throughout without fouling. It indicates that MHT can realize the fouling resisting/preventing on-line, and the result is good. The technology can be used in the actual production; it is one new kind technology of the fouling resisting on-line which has the research value and the application prospect extremely.
