With cassava starch and 3-chloro-2-hydorxypropyl-trimethyl ammonium chlorate (CHPTMA) as raw materials, modified cassava cationic starch was prepared by dry process and microwave irradiation. Substitute degree, efficiencies and the properties of cationic starch were investigated. Some conditions which could enhance efficiencies and improve the properties were got. The summarizing of research is as follows:NaOH was as the catalyst, 3-chloro-2-hydorxypropyl-trimethyl ammonium chlorate reacted with cassava starch as the etherification. The optimum conditions of dry process were got by investigating the Substitute degree and the efficiencies of experiments of single factors: NaOH was delivered respectively in starch and CHPTMA, The ratio delivered sodium hydroxide between starch and CHPTMA was 3:1. the mole ratio of CHPTMA to anhydroglucose unit of starch (AGU, the molecular weight of AGU is 162)was 0.052. The mole ratio of sodium hydroxide to AGU was 0.16. The...
