China is the largest country that produces and consumes coal. And it is also a large country that consumes coal far more than other forms of energy, which will not change in the long future. A number of research studies have shown that, one of the more challenging sources of particle emissions is fine fly ash particles generated during pulverized coal combustion. These same studies reveal that the particulate matter emitted from coal combustion processes may be enriched with organic compounds and many toxic heavy metals, the concentrations of which increase with decreasing particle size. It results in fine particles have more heavy environmental and healthy impacts and attracts more and more attention. Now with the requirement of high air quality, the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for airborne particulate matter have been revised to include a standard for PM2.5. As a result of these and other factors, it is imperative to take effective measures to reduce the particles emission. In recent years, field and laboratory studies on the formation and control of particulate matters emitted from coal combustion have been conducted and yielded favorable results. But the reports on the characteristics of fly ash emission from blended coal combustion are very few. At present, many power plants of our country burn blended coal, which increasing more pollutants emission if coals mix unreasonable. Thus it is of real significance to study the characteristics of fly ash emission from blended coal combustion, in order to instruct the power plants which burn blended coal to control fine particles emission.Main contents of this thesis are as following:1. Four bituminous coals and their blends were burnt in a drop tube furnace, collected fly ash particles size distributions were measured by particle sizer MS2000, then probe into the effects of blended coal combustion on fly ash particles emission.2. Combustion of Pingshuo,Dayo,Shenmu coal and their blends were conducted in a drop tube furnace, the reaction temperature was 1100℃, 1200℃ and 1300℃ respectively, in order to understand temperature on the formation characteristics of particulate matter during blended coal combustion.3. Studied the mineral matter in fly ash particles with X-ray diffraction qualitative analysis. Scanned the fly ash particles sample to understand the appearance characteristics of fly ash particles and analyzed the difference of element composition.
