Zinc deposit has been widely used to protect steel from corrosion for many yeas due to its corrosion resistance and low cost. Alkaline non-cyanide zinc plating has received the most attention for the littlest toxicity and the most simple waste water treatment among the three main zinc plating categories. Currently, the most used additives are the cheap DE or DPE-III products produced in the 1970's, which has the following shortcomings such as low throwing power ability and strait range of bright electroplating current density. With a synthesize research and eugenic selection method adopted in this trial, an alkaline non-cyanide zinc plating addictive with better capability is obtained.1 ,Interiorly, for the first time, di-tertiary amine containing amide and two linking Agents (epichlorohydrin and dichlorobutane) are co-polymerized respectively to obtain zinc plating additive. The results of Hull cell test indicate that both additives can improve the bright current density region and throwing power obviously. However, they put a disadvantage at the cathode current efficiency.2, In order to improve the properties of the additives, other amines have been mixed into the intermediate when co-polymerized with the linking agents. Through the methods of linear potential sweep and plating process experiment, for the first time, a systemic analysis and comparison of the capability changes of the additives which are reacted in the same condition with di-tertiary amine containing amine as the main body, different structure amines and different linking agents is conducted. A series of tests indicated that the improved additives have a little side effect on the bright current density region and throwing power, whereas they enhance the efficiency and other process properties. Among the improved additives, two additives have more excellence combination properties, one is E-2 which is reacted with intermediate, dimethylamine and epichlorohydrin, another additive is D-13 which is reacted with intermediate, Tetramethylpropylenediamine and dichlorobutane.3,As for the two additives (E-2 and D-13), the influence of the content of the modified amine variables on the properties of the additive has been discussed.
