All experiments were carried out under the dry and oxygen-free argon atmosphere using standard Schlenk techniques. Reaction of O(CH2CH2)2NCH2CH2Cl with 1 equiv of C9H7Li in THF at 0οC yielded O(CH2CH2)2NCH2CH2C9H7 (1) in 75% yield. Treatment of 1 with 1 equiv of n-BuLi in THF at 0οC yielded O(CH2CH2)2NCH2CH2C9H6Li, then interaction of O(CH2CH2)2NCH2CH2C9H6Li with excess Me3SiCl yielded O(CH2CH2)2NCH2CH2C9H6SiMe3 (2) in 90% yield.Treatment of [(Me3Si)2N]3YbШ(μ-Cl)Li(THF)3 with 2 equiv of 1 or 2 respectively in refluxing toluene gave the corresponding ytterbium(П) complexes [η5:η1-O(CH2CH2)2NCH2CH2C9H6]2YbII (3) in 65% yield, [η5:η1-O(CH2CH2)2NCH2CH2C9H5SiMe3]2YbII (4) in 55% yield; Treatment of [(Me3Si)2N]3EuШ(μ-Cl)Li(THF)3 with 2 equiv of 1 or 2 respectively in refluxing toluene gave the corresponding europium(П) complexes [η5:η1-O(CH2CH2)2NCH2CH2C9H6]2EuII(toluene) (5) in 70% yield, [η5:η1-O(CH2CH2)2NCH2CH2C9H5SiMe3]2EuII (6) in 55% yield.
