The catalystic synthesis of dimethyl carbonate from urea and methanol is a new process. The method greatly reduces the synthesis cost of dimethyl carbonate due to the facile and low-cost material. The reaction process is short and low pollution . The by-product ammonia can be utilized. Moreover, the product of this reaction can be refined more lightly compared with other methods because water is hardly produced in the preparation process . It is a"environmental begine"method. In this study, the prepared process was studied with the material of urea and methanol and catalysis in a high-pressure reactor as an intermittent reaction. The reaction mixture was analyzed by a gas phase chromatography and though which the yield of DMC was got. This paper respectively compared the catalytic activity of unitary and binary metal oxide catalysts, catalysts supported on metal oxide and metal, which were prepared in different ways and chose the optimal catalysts of each type. Furthermore , respectively using the optimal catalysts of binary metal oxide catalysts, catalysts supported on metal oxide and metal, the experiment was carried out at different temperatures, with catalysts of different quantities, materials of different ratio, and for different time so as to acquire their effects on the yield of DMC and find the suitable condition of this reaction. Moreover, this paper charactered some catalysts by SEM,XRD,BET .The experimental results show:(1)Among the unitary metal oxide catalysts (namely Zinc oxide), the one prepared in sol-gel processing had the most excellent catalytic activity on producing...
