Solid phase extraction (SPE) has been used since late seventies of the 20th century. It has many advantages, such as high concentration factor, good selectivity, small sample volume, reusability, ease operation and automatization. Therefore, SPE has been applied extensively in wasterwater disposal, and become a reliable sample pretreatment method in China and abroad. SPE also shows its prospecting future. Nano-TiO2 has become an excellent solid sorbent due to its good physical and chemical characteristics. The aim of this dissertation is to synthesize TiO2 by sol-gel method, and load it on silica gel. The adsorbed As(III) are determined by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG-AFS).The adsorption behavior of As(III) on silica gel-supported TiO2 is studied by the microcolumn method and the batch method, respectively. The results show that the surported TiO2 is a good solid sorbent .The As(III) can be adsorbed rapidly by the microcolumn method, and eluted completely with NaOH solution. The proposed method is simple, and it has the potential application in the environmental analysis.
