The aramid fibre was applied in the guiding optical cable, because of its outstanding performance. The core of aramid fibre having skin-core structure arranges loose and has pore and slit, therefore aramid fibre is extremely easy to cleave. In order to improve aramid fibre's surface condition, coatings were spread on the surface of aramid fibre. But because of aramid fibre's chemical inertia, the adhesion between aramid fibre and curing film is bad. Also, the coatings must have better flexibility, as aramid fibre is flexible bottom. It is reported that aramid fibre had be applied to guidance optical cable successfully overseas and still be on researching stage at home presently. So this research has some theoretical meaning and practicability.The characteristics of UV curing coatings and aramid fibre were analyzed. According to the requirements of cooperant company, flexible epoxy acrylate modified by polyether which is of good flexibility and high photosensitivity was synthesized. Composition of UV curing coatings of special optical cable was researched at the same time.In experiments, influence of the type and content of prepolymers, monomers and photoinitiators on curing rate, curing degree, the adhesion and flexibility were discussed primarily. The results show that the photoinitiators of EDAB and ITX have synergistic effect. Choosed 6148J-75 and PEA5 as prepolymer, the adhesion and the flexibility of coatings were better. The surface tension of liquid coatings will reduce and the adhesion between curing film and aramid fibre will improve obviously under the condition of the addition of suitable additive. In the meanwhile, influence of the type and content of every coatings component on tensile strength and elongation at break of curing films was researched systematically by orthogonal experiments. The aging resistance of curing film was also analyzed. The results show that excessive addition of photoinitiator led to decrease in aging resistance, and the addition of nano-SiO2 resulted in increasing to aging resistance and decreasing to curing rate. So, the optimal content of photoiniator and nano-SiO2 were born. At the end of this experiment, the composition of UV curing coatings used for special optical cable with good performance was established ultimately.
