With comparing to traditional flame retarded composite, Polymer/montmorillonite nano-composite has unique flame retardancy, and little addition, non-halogen, little effect on mechanical properties of polymer. For this reason, the high flame-retarded polymer/ montmorillonite nanocomposite is widely studied in recent years, but its flame retardancy can not meet with the demand of conventional flame-retarded composite, in which the substrate is usually a single polymer in all the studies. The flame-retarded composite with polymer blend substrate were studied in a little extend. In this paper PA6/PP blend/MMT flame-retarded composites were prepared and the flame retardancy was improved by changing the content and morphology of this composite.Firstly, PA6/PP/MMT flame-retarded composite was prepared through melting intercalation, its structure and performance were measured by XRD, SEM, DSC and LOI, and so on. The results showed that montmorillonite presented the exfloliated structure in the composite of PA6/PP-g-MAH/PP/MMT(0/5/100/4), and the intercalated structure in the composite of PA6/PP-g-MAH/PP/MMT(70/5/30/4). When changing the content of PP, PP-g-MAH and MMT in the PA6/PP/MMT nanocomposite, the tensile performance and the water-absorptivity also can be changed. With the PP content increase, this composite tensile strength and the water-absorptivity present the drop tendency, and with the PP-g-MAH content increase, the tensile strength of the composite increase gradually. When the PP-g-MAH content is 5 phr, the tensile strength gets max, yet the water-absorptivity reduces along with it. With the MMT content increases, the tensile strength of this composite increases gradually, while its content is 4 phr, the tensile strength was max; while the MMT content was 1 phr, the water-absorptivity was mix.
