It is an effective approach to synthesize porous spinel magnetic carrier and solid base catalyst from a layered double hydroxides (LDHs) precursor preparation. The present paper involves two aspects: (1) a porous magnetic carrier material is prepared based the alkaline dissolving mechanism of zinc oxide from its spinel-containing mixture, majoring on the optimum for operation parameters; (2) On the basis of variability of LDHs layer compositions and their uniform dispersing properties on the layer, a serious of solid base catalysts are obtained from LDHs precursor. The structure, surface properties and catalytic reactivity of as-synthesized solid base catalysts are studied.Well-crystallized layered precursor NiMgZnFe-SO4-LDHs is prepared by the coprecipitation method. After calcinations at proper temperature, a mixture of ZnO and ferrite spinel containing different metal cations is obtained.
