Mixing process is important unit operation in chemical engineering and metallurgical industry, and mixing equipments are widely used in chemical engineering and food industry. Solid-liquid suspension is one of the most common processes in stirred operations. In recent years, the new method of using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for the study of flow and mixing characteristics in stirred tank is adopted more and more frequently. For its advantages, the techniques of CFD improved the development, research and design of mixing equipments.In this paper, based on the function provided by the commercial CFD code (CFX 5.1), the just-suspended speed of impeller, Njs, of high concentration solid-liquid suspension has been simulated, by means of Multiple Frames of Reference (MFR) and standard κ - ε model in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
