Nano-materials — materials that are defined as having at least one dimension between 1 and 100nm or composing of them as basic cell — have received steadily growing interests because of their peculiar and fascinating properties, such as quantum size effect, small bulk effect, surface effect and macroscopic quantum tunneling effect. As a result of these effects, nano-materials possess some special properties which their bulk counterparts do not have as far as magnetics, optics, electronics, and calorifics,ect. are concerned. Polymer nano-spheres have been prepared by soapless emulsion polymerization, that shows the method is a potential application to prepare other kinds of polymer nano-materials. In this paper, some l-dimension(1D) polymer nano-materials are prepared via soapless emulsion polymerization by adding oxygen as inhibitor to control the molecular weight at the early stage.
