Aluminum is not a kind of dispensable element to human being. Recent scientific researches have revealed that there may lie some kind of direct or indirect relationship between aluminum and inducement of Alzheimers disease, Parkinson's disease, and so on. So eliminating excessive aluminum in body is beneficial to health. In present, the main method is that the complexation of Al(III) by strong organic ligands is applied to reduce the overload in human body, and then the chelate compoud is expelled from body by metabolism. As the representative compound of flavone, it is a excellent ligand with aluminum. However there are lack of detailed reports about the fine structure of this kind of chelate compound. So the interaction between aluminum and quercetin is studied to find out the mechanism of detoxification more deeply, and then develop a sort of high effective drug.Complex formation between aluminum and quercetin(Q) in methanol was studied by the combined use of UV-vis, IR, ESI-MS~n and NMR spectroscopy. Quercetin presents in its structure three possible chelating sites in competition. In a acidic and neutral medium, the complexs...
