Porous structured metals are ideally suited for electrodes in electrochemical devices such as batteries, fuel cells, supercapacitors and electrochemical sensors, because the open porous structure allows rapid transport of gas and liquid, while the extremely high surface area is desirable for electrochemical reactions. Up to now, the techniques of electrodeposition using various kinds of templates have been developed in obtaining porous metals. One of them is the electrodeposition on the template of hydrogen bubbles, which has received considerable attentions because of it is convenience and low-costs in production. In this thesis, porous metals of nickel, copper and lead films have been successfully electrodeposited using cathodic hydrogen bubbles as templates. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to investigate the effect of the deposition parameters on the pore size, pore density and structure of the pore walls. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) was applied to study the electrochemical performances of these porous films.1. Porous nickel films have been successfully electrodeposited from the electrolytes containing 0.2 ~ 0.5 mol·dm-3 NiCl2 and 0.5 ~ 6.0...
