It is focused on monitoring the environmental pollutant in aquatic system using aquatic organism as an effective biotelemetry by environmental scientists around the world at present, Through the financial supports from The National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant: 40103009, 40573044), The Excellent Young Teachers Program of MOE, PR China (Grant: 20011766), respectively, the environmental and biologic effects on trace and ultra-trace elements of As, Se and Hg in aquatic organism living in different layers of the overlying waters in Poyang Lake in China were investigated in details.The main contents researched are including: â‘  the digestion method for biological samples was optimized using microwave in the first; â‘¡ a sensitive analytical method for trace selenium species in biological samples was established by hydride generation atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG-AFS); â‘¢ distribution behaviors of trace and ultra-trace elements of As, Se and Hg within the same and different aquatic organisms were demonstrated; â‘£ to discus the distributions behaviors of As, Se and Hg in sediments, porewaters, benthos and fishes.A novel procedure on trace and ultra trace elemental selenium in biological samples was successfully established using L-systeine as an effective reducer by HG-AFS. A series of biosamples were analyzed using the combined microwave digestion-HG-AFS. After a series of comparisons for the distributions of As, Se and Hg within the same and different aquatic organisms chains, principles on the transfer and transform behavior and the accumulation of the trace and ultra-trace elements in aquatic organism were carried out. An essential assessment showed that the concentrations of arsenic and mercury both are relatively low whereas the concentration of selenium is high enough. The research results can prove a vital evidence to strengthen the ecology protection in Poyang Lake, China.
