Polymer/layered minerals nanocomposite is a new composite with excellent properties and application foreground. Due to the anisotropy and peculiar properties of its layered sandwich structure, layered minerals have attracted wide attention. Preparation of Polymer/layered minerals nanocomposite has been a hotspot in polymer science and engineering. Therefore, Epoxy (EP)/layered minerals nanocomposites bring modification of EP to a new milestone.Hydrotalcite is a kind of effective, halogen-free, innocuous flame retardant with the capability of fire retardancy and smoke suppression effect. Therefore the preparation and research of EP/hydrotalcite nanocomposite has a broad application and economic value.Intercalated EP/hydrotalcite nanocomposite by in situ polymerization was prepared and its retardancy property was studied in this paper. Firstly high crystallization Mg-Al carbonic hydrotalcite and alanine-intercalated hydrotalcite were produced by the "urea method" and ion exchange; Secondly suitable end-capping agent was chosen to control molecular weight and viscosity of low-molecular-weight PA6 and in situ polymerization of carprolactam in the presence of alanine-intercalated hydrotalcite was carried out; Thirdly epoxy was cured using products of in situ polymerization as a macromolecule curing agent with commercial curing agent "polyamide 650" together to prepare intercalated EP/hydrotalcite nanocomposite; Finally retardancy of the nanocomposite was studied using vertical burning method. Besides, in order to improve the fire retardancy of it, red phosphorus (RP) was introduced into EP resin through in situ polymerization of carprolactam. The structure and property of products was characterized using XRD, GPC, revolving viscometer, TG-DTA and TEM.The results show that high crystallization hydrotalcite with higher than 90% purity is successfully produced by the "urea method" , whose interlayer space is 0.76...
