Landfill leachate is very difficult to be treated by common activite sludge procedure because of it contains high concentration of COD, ammonia and multiplicate toxicities. If membrane was not used in landfill leachate treatment, COD and ammonia might usually not reach the standard of the National Discharge Criteria. But the technic is expensive and theoperating cost is very high. Minitype reactors were set up for treating landfill leachate to try to find effective and economical way The distributing patten, methanogenic activity of anaerobic sludge and in different unit of compartment in anaerobic baffled reactor(ABR) and the effects of different pretreatment on the downstreatment were discussed. The characters of sludge and diversity of microbiology in ABR of datianshan landfill were also studied. The anaerobic culturing results showed that young landfill leachate which Coagulation–flocculation with lime addition and air stripping of ammonia then neutralized with phosphate acid or hydrochloric acid has good biodegradability. The biodegradation processes completed at 38 days with high removal rate of COD, BOD5 and VFA.. More sulfide was produced when vitriol used as neutralizer and the microorganisms, especially methanogenic bacteria in the system were greatly inhibited. But the inhibition was wear off after 38d. In the period of 54 days anaerobic culturing, there were no obvious fall of COD, BOD5 or VFA from the smple of the...
