Our country has the extremely rich rare earth resources, obtained the application in many domains, especially applies in the steel prominently. The massive research and the production practice indicated that, the rare-earth element has the purification steel, the denatured mixture and the micro alloy function in the steel, this not only causes the steel to model toughness and plasticity to enhance, but also greatly improved the steel products cold ramming to take shape the performance and resists corrosion the performance. Thin slab continuous casting of Compact Strip Production , as a result of the mould for the funnel, distorts in a big way, and thin, the crack sensitivity strong aluminum production difficulty, the production variety is unitary, therefore, joins the rare earth in the steel, the development attachment value high product is one of domestic CSP production line most important tasks. But it is very difficult to feed into the rare earth in the mould, not only must make the production proceed succeed after feed into rare earth (avoid breakout), but also must guarantee well and truly control the wire-feeding quantity and speed, must guarantee the uniformity which rare earth distributes in the slab and rare earth yield rate under the high casting speed, receives rate. The thin slab continuous casting production for rare earth steel is a blank in domestic at present, has not seen the report in the overseas paper.The physical simulation method was widely taken to research the rule of flow pattern. In the dissertation, according to the technical parameters (1380×60 mm~2, bloom section, 4.0~6.0m/min,casting speed) for mould of thin slab continuous casting in Zhujiang Iron & Steel Group Co. The flow field, density field, response time, covering of flux and the influence of heat release when rare earth oxidizing on the solid slab were investigated under the different casting speed and wire-feeding positions, the optimum wire-feeding position and speed have been determined, and the diameter of rare earth wire has been suggested also.In order to make the production proceed succeed after feed into rare earth (avoid breakout) and guarantee the product quality of thin slab, this article has analyzed the effect of rare earth and its the oxide compound on physical-chemistry properties of mould fluxes through the massive experiments, the production rule of mould fluxes suit for rare earth steel has been developed.
