In the paper, Nano-silica is treated with Vinyl-silane A-151, which has a good hydrophobic. The surface status of nano-silica before and after modification was studied. It is verified that modification of nano-silica can be carried out by this technics and the aggregation of nano-silica can be dispersed effectively. Lipophilic degree and surface silanol groups of modified nano-silica were measured by titration. The effect of modification of modified nano-silica was discussed by analysising activation temperature, procession temperature, procession time and flow capacity of the N2. The analysis of FTIR and XPS proved that the A-151 has been successfully grafted on the surface of nano-silica. Analysis of TEM proved that the modified nano-silica had dispersed in nanoscale in ethylalcohol.The compatibility of grafted version with butylruber matrix was studied by analsising solubility parameter of A-151 and butyl rubber, surface free energy of modified nano-silica and unvulcanized tensile compound butyl rubber.In the paper, the effects of modified nano-silica on physical properties of vulcanizes were studied. It shows that with the content increase of modified nano-silica in the butyl rubber, the portions of covalent bond interaction increases, overall crosslink density of vulcanizes increases, chemistry crosslink density of vulcanizes increases and reaches its maximum when the content is 2.0%, then followed by a slow decrease. Application experiment shows that the tensile strength of the modified nano-silica-filled vulcanizes is 8.22MPa when the content is 1.0%, elongations of vulcanizes is 823.15%. When the content is higher than 3.5%, the tensile strength increases and reaches 9.28 MPa, elongations of vulcanizes decrease to 746.56%. Resisting water, acid and alkali properties of the modified nano-silica-filled vulcanizes can be improved accordingly, and leaching liquor ion form vulcanizes decreases.
