Restoring the vegetation in karst region whose ecological environment has seriously degraded is an important issue. The issue was paid more attention by academia, the departments of natural conservation, and the park administrations. Some experiments about the issue were carried out , and the productions indicated that the degraded karst vegetation restoration is potential. But the mechanism of vegetation restoration and the role of geological heritage conservation in the process of vegetation restoration are absence. It's valuable to study the mechanism and the role of geological heritage conservation in vegetation restoration. The paper studied the issue in the Shilin geopark. We investigated five representative flora communities in Shilin, Yunnan: Cyclobalanopsis glaucoides forest representing the original subtropical karst plateau monsoon zonal vegetation, secondary forest, budding Cyclobalanopsis glaucoides forest, grassland and Pinus yunnanensis forest representing the secondary-succession of karst vegetation. The community composition and diversity of plant, and community similarity were studied, and cluster analysis was conducted. All flora diaspores were recorded in the five communities has grouped into 96 families and 282 species. The result showed that in the process of ecosystem degraded, the diversity (Shannon-wiener index), the evenness (Pielou index), and the richness (Margalef index) minished in the mass, and the dominance (Simpson index) augmented. Community similarity is small among the five communities and some diaspores left in the degraded ecosystem. There are many types habitat in karst environment because the karst heritage is so diversity, so we chose the concept of microhabitat to expound the mechanism of karst vegetation restoration and the role of geological heritage preserve. The microhabitat is a habitat whose scale is small. Karst microhabitat is consanguineous with karren karst. The microhabitats in Shilin park has been divided into the following kinds: cleftkarren, grike, deep solution pits, solution rock debris, solution basin or large kamentiza, canernous weathering or bedding caverns, solution well or shaft, and solution corridors. The ranges of microhabitats is 31~340cm in length and 10~261cm in width. By analyzed the actuality of vegetation and the communities of microhabitats in Shilin park, we can get the conclusion that some microhabitats can anti-jamming. In the process of ecosystem degraded, some diaspores were conservation in some microhabitats that obturation or long and narrow. They are grike, solution rock debris, cutters and deep solution pits. Protect the geological heritage plays an important role in vegetation restoration that afford opportunity and outlay to make it feasible.Based on the results, we bring forward some proposal to achieve more successes about vegetation restoration. Protect the zonal vegetation leftover, take a suitable planting, and optimize industrial structure.
