A type of metal powder-cored wire with high hardness, wear-resistance and high toughness is studied in this paper. Metal powder-cored wire is the newtendency of the international development recent years, and which isconsidered a welding material instead of solid wire. This welding wire not only has the inherent properties of metal powder-cored wire, such as with better welding quality, without slag, highly efficiency and conveniently adjusting the alloying elements etc., but also has the advantage of and better wear resistance with customary working procedure on making or repairing equipments such as high-speed steel spare part and cold working roll when reasonable designing the alloys content. The compositions of surfacing metal, process variable of surfacing layer. In this paper, the different welding parameter and post-welding heat treatment apt to specified wires are determined relatively by series of contrastive test .Under this condition, the welding technological property is excellent and the metal of surfacing layer has good mechanical characters, all above meet the high-speed steel spare part and cold working roll respectively working needs. This paper optimizedly adjusts alloy system and summarizes the experience of rolling wires and improves all processing properties. Then, it analyses the effects on some natural parameters such as alloy transfer coefficient, surfacing layers, welding current and arc voltage etc , It confirms the fitting temper processing of deposited metal. In order to refine the grain of the weld metal, besides adding to modification, and the results by test show that the hardness, wear resistance and roughness are significantly improved. The optimized alloys have been investigated by means of the metallograph scanning electron microscope (SEM), and X-ray diffraction analyses. The results show that the microstructure of the alloys system is the compound of the acicular martensite and partial residual austenite. From the matrix, the composite carbides were precipitated. Through the line and face analysis by the SEM, the distributing instance of the composite carbide is determined. Also, it discusses the efects on hardness, roughness ,wear resistance and cracking resistance change of overlaying metal by some alloying elements including C, Cr, Mo, Ni, Mn, B, Re. Finally the abrasive resistance and cracking resistance are investigated in experimentation.
