Microemulsions are transparent, thermodynamically stable dispersions made up of two liquids, incompatible with each other, stabilized by surfactants(sometimes cosurfactants are needed). Recently, increasing attention has been paid to the preparation of porous materials by microemulsion polymerization, because of its special merit. In the thesis, the preparation of transparent porous materials by polymerization using heat-initiator in methyl methacrylate-butyl acrylate (MMA-BA)/acrylic acid(AA) bicontinuous microemulsions was studied, and the proportion of MMA and BA was determinated. Then the phase behavior of microemulsions was studied and the phase diagram of MMA-BA/AA/sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)-H2O was drawn. And the region of bicontinuous microemulsions was determined. The results showed that AA could be used as a cosurfactants to form one-phase microemulsion when SDS was chosen as surfactants. The variation in structure of microemulsions was measured by a conductivity detector and a viscosity meter. The results showed that the conductivities and viscosities of microemulsions changed with the increase of the aqueous phase when the amount of MMA/BA or MMA-BA/AA was fixed, which explained that the transformation of the system from W/O microemulsion, through bicontinuous microemulsion, to O/W microemulsion.2, 2'-azobisobutytonitrile (AIBN) and KMnO4-H2C-2O-4 were used as the initiator; ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) was used as the cross-linking agent. Porous polymeric materials were prepared by bicontinuous microemulsion polymerization. Some factors influencing on the polymerization product were studied exploringly, such as the formula, the initiator type and its amount, the polymerizing temperature, the cross-linking agent amount and so on. So the better composition of polymerization system and the technology were selected. The research showed that the desired transparent polymerization product used the two heat-initiators can be obtained, when the experimental conditions were well controlled. The two initiators have their own advantages, respectively: the polymerizing rate was slower and the solid content was more if the bicontinuous microemulsion was initated with AIBN; while the...
