In view of the problems that a lot of difficulties are founded in operating the wastewater treatment equipments of service area in express highway when the real quantities are much lower than the designed ones, a feasibility test is done to find a economical mode when the Biological Contact Oxidation Process (BCO) is used in the service area of express highway. The conclusions are achieved as follows:(1) When the real quantities are much lower than the designed ones, the Biological Contact Oxidation reactors in service area of express highway can be well operated by the control of water level and the time.(2) As to the organic wastewater which is similar with domestic sewage, when the reactor is operated in continuous influent and aeration mode, the removal efficiency of COD and Ammonia Nitrogen is lowered with the reduction of HRT and the increase of organic load. The economical mode is HRT=10h(Q=10.7L/d, N_v=1.12 kgCOD/m~3·d), the value of COD is 66mg/L, the removal efficiency of COD is 85.8%, the value of Ammonia Nitrogen is 5.4mg/L, the removal efficiency of Ammonia Nitrogen is 74.3%.(3) As to the organic wastewater which is similar with domestic sewage, when the organic load is 0.80 kgCOD/m~3·d(HRT is 14 hours), and the reactor is operated 3 times a day, the economical mode is that the aeration is provided 9 times a day and 1hour per time(9h/d totally), the value of COD is 67mg/L, the removal efficiency of COD is 81.1 %, the value of Ammonia Nitrogen is 2.1mg/L, the removal efficiency of Ammonia Nitrogen is 89.2 %.(4) As to the organic wastewater which is similar with domestic sewage, when the organic load is 0.80 kgCOD/m~3·d(HRT is 14 hours), and the reactor is operated 6 times a day, the economical mode is that the aeration is provided 15 times a day and lhour per time(15h/d totally), the value of COD is 71mg/L, the removal efficiency of COD is 80.1 %, the value of Ammonia Nitrogen is 1.6mg/L, the removal efficiency of Ammonia Nitrogen is 91.7 %.(5) Under the same wastewater quantity and organic load, the removal efficiency of two reactors connected in series is higher then those connected in parallel. Under the same organic load and HRT, the removal efficiency of two reactors connected inseries is higher then a single one.(6) Based on the Monod equation, a dynamics model of Biological ContactOxidation is achieved:...
