As an advanced oxidative technology that put forward recently, Microwave-assisted wet catalytic oxidation (MAWCO) process was investigated in this paper, aiming to treat the non-degradation organic wastewater. Coupled with activated carbon (AC) added and airflow supplied, microwave irradiation could effectively be applied to treat non-degradation organic pollutant in water. Microwave (MW)-assisted wet catalytic oxidation (MAWCO) of pentachlorophenol (PCP) in the aqueous solution using activated carbon (AC) as catalytic was studied in this paper. The effect of AC dose, MW power, irradiation time and airflow on removal of PCP in solution was investigated. The results showed that more than 90% of PCP (20mL, 2000mg/L) was removed after 60min irradiation under the conditions of 800W of MW power, 10g of AC dose and 0.2L/min of airflow. From the analysis of UV adsorption, HPLC and pH determination in the original and treated solution, the results showed that the structure of PCP was destroyed and gradually mineralized after MAWCO.It proved that AC possibly suffered high temperature during the process. From the study on absorption and desorption of the activated carbon, it proved that the degradation of the pentachlorophenol was not because the absorption of activated carbon, but was the inter-reaction of MW and AC.Behavior of the regeneration of AC absorbing phenol under MW irradiation was studied. The rates of AC regeneration and phenol degradation under various treating time and microwave power were investigated. The results showed that more than 80% of AC regeneration rate was obtained under the condition of 700W of MW power and 2min of irradiation time. Meantime, the phenol was removed. To token AC behaviors, the determination of iodine, methylene-blue and BET of AC were...
