The KDP crystal is a good kind of inorganic nonlinear optical material. It can be used in many fields like Inertial Confinement Fusion and laser communication. In order to upgrade the machining quality, many country cost much to research the process technology. At present, The KDP crystal is usually processed by Single Point Diamond Turning within the plastic domain both here and abroad. According to the service condition of the cooling fluid abroad, the machining quality of the KDP crystal can be upgraded availability by using cooling fluid. But the technology relate to the KDP crystal is kept secret to us due to the KDP crystal make good use in navigate , spaceflight, national defence and so on. And, inside, little work is down on the function mechanism between the machined surface and the chemistry composition, the perfect scale of the cooling fluid componential, and the dosage in the process. As a result, the KDP crystal is processed without cooling fluid at home. So, it has important theories and realistic meanings to research the influence of cooling fluid on the KDP crystal surface quality and extend the use of the cooling fluid at the SPDT process inside. First, according to the brittle to model formula advanced by Westwood and T. G. Bifano, theξpotential energy of the KDP crystal surface can be increased by using the cooling fluid. Then, it can debase the surface rigidity. At last, the brittle to model will be advanced with the increscent critical cutting depth.Second, by analyzing the influence of the cooling fluid on the cutting force, we find that the cutting force and its fluctuation range can be minished by using the cooling fluid. Thereby, the high quality surface with low surface roughness, low remanent stress and little brittle damnification is gained.Then, the adsorption theory between the metal impurity ion the KDP crystal surface is researched. The EDTA and SSal are advanced to be used as the additive. And, the disadvantageous influence, including the crystal surface speedup fog, the asymmetry of the transmission beam, the drop of the laser damage threshold and so on, produced by the adsorption of the metal impurity ion can be eliminated by the complexation effect of the EDTA and SSal.In the end, the influence of the cooling fluid on the KDP crystal surface quality...
