The cis-butadiene rubber (BR) is general purpose synthetic rubber which ranks second only to styrene-butadiene rubber as the most widely used rubber. It is synthesised by butadiene monomer with different catalyst and polymerisation process. Cis-butadiene rubber has the characteristics of good elasticity, good anti-wear properties, good low-temperature impact rcsistance performance, low heat generation, low hysteresis loss, good anti-flex property, good anticracking property and dynamic performance. It can be used together with natural rubber, polychloroprene and butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber in the manufacture of various rubber products such as tyres, products with modified resistance to impact, adhesive tape, rubber pipe and rubber shoes.This paper presents the technology progress of the cis-1,4-polybutadiene process with nickel catalyst at home and abroad in recent years. In order to solve the problems of single varieties of rubber products produced in Cis-butadiene Rubber Plant Of Daqing Petrochemical Complex, catalyst premixing process for industrialized production test of cis-1,4-polybutadiene was defined based on the related polymerization mechanisms and the conclusions of small scale test, pilot test and scale-up study. This paper makes a systematic analysis and evaluation on the technology development of cis-1,4-polybutadiene with nickel catalyst from catalysis research, polymerization process to coagulation and post-processing technology. Small scale test, pilot test and studying of the rule of synthesising high mooney viscosity cis-1,4-polybutadiene with nickel catalyst are conducted. The effects of catalyst mix proportion, monomer concentration, polymerization time, best amount of octyl aldehyde addition to monomer conversion, crude rubber mooney viscosity and relative molecular mass distribution are reviewed.
