In this dissertation, the pumping units being used in oilfield was discussed. Based on the fact, the performance of pumping unit driven by flexible pitman which was developed in recent years was mainly analyzed. In order to save energy, its design was optimized and the design software of pumping unit was developed. The content is shown as follows:Firstly, the current situation of pumping units for domestic and international uses was briefly stated, the main problem of the pumping units being used in oilfield and how to save energy were also described. The topic for discussion of this dissertation was provided.Secondly, the primary theory was studied and its underground situation, load calculation, stroke, stroke frequency and selection of motor power were also analyzed. This is the theoretical basis for software development.Thirdly, based on the traditional pumping unit, its movement, dynamical performance and calculation of output torque of reducer were elaborated. This provided theoretical reference for further development of disparate pumping unit.Fourthly, base on the current literatures, the structure, performance and energy-saving effect of several type of energy-saving pumping units were analyzed and compared, which were designed and widely used in China. The pumping unit driven by flexible pitman was chosen to have further study.Fifthly, with the calculation method for traditional pumping unit, the geometry, movement and dynamics of the pumping unit driven by flexible pitman were analyzed, the uniform calculation method for different curves has been proposed. To attain the better energy-saving effect, its target function was selected to optimize its design.Sixthly, the software of pumping unit was designed and developed to analyze the design, manufacture and test of the double horse head pumping unit.Eventually, a final summary of the dissertation was provided.
