Based on the kinematical theory of MBS( Multi-Body System), the focus on this paper is how to implement grinding machine tool application of geometric error compensation and reduce the effect of the geometric error for enhance the accuracy of SK-21 NC grinding machine tool. The error compensation software for cam precision grinding has been developed, and results show that the cam grinding accuracy can be ensured and the productive can be improved.(1) By using the method of movement error analysis of MBS, the geometric error model of SK-21 NC machine tool has been established, and the calculation equation for precision processing of NC machine tool has been derived, which lays a good foundation of programming the error compensation software.(2) By using the methods of analytic geometry and MBS and parameter measure map along X-axes by 9-line distinguish method, the formulas for correctly identifying the error parameters have been established. With the experiment part, the errors of SK-21 NC machine tool have been measured, and a serial of data is gotten which lead to the error discrimination.(3) Based on the kinematical theory of MBS, the calculation methods for the ideal center envelop curve of grinding wheel on cam grinding, the practical cutter track, inverse contour of cam, ideal NC instructions, precision NC instructions, the inner/outer normal and the fitting criterion of curve have been all discussed in detail in this paper.(4) It is important to program the geometric error compensation software in order to put this technology into use. The program is written with VC++ 6.0 under Windows platform. After the design of compensation software of SK-21 NC machine tool is completed, precision NC instruction is resolved automatically by error compensation software.
