Desulphurized coal water slurry is a new kind of clean coal water mixture, which shows some SO2 removal efficiency during combustion and gasification. Sulfur-retention agent has some effects on the performance of coal water slurry. In this paper, the viscosity, stability, sulfur release and desulfurization effect have been studied through adding different calcium base sulfur-retention agents into several common coal water slurry. It mainly concludes these contents as follows:Firstly, the rheology characteristic is analyzed. The results show that the sulfur-retention agent has little effect on the rheology of CWS, which still presents pseudoplastic fluid. Nevertheless, the viscosity of CWS increases, while the stability decreases a little. The data also show that inorganic calcium has less effect on the performance of CWS than organic calcium. The viscosity of CWS with organic calcium agent keeps 1000-1200 mPa·s when Ca/S=2.Secondly, sulfur-retention agent has some effect to the slagging characteristic of coal water slurry. The slagging characteristics have been studied through adding calcium base sulfur-retention agent and various Ca/S molar ratios in four different types of coal water slurries. The slagging and sintering of De-cws has been forecasted by grey clustering model. The survey is anastomotic with experiment results.A few agents could aggravate clinkering property, which display differences between different coal ashes. It will slow up slag when the content of calcium reaches a certain extent in coal ashes.Afterwads, it is studied on the dynamic characteristics of sulfur release during coal water mixture combustion through ZCS-1 intellective sulf-meter in the paper. The result indicates that burning temperature has a tremendous influence on sulfur release. The quantity and rate of sulfur release will increase and the time for release will move up as burning temperature increases, when Ca/S molar ratio is 2 and combustion temperature is 1000°C. Coal water is made of refined coal, and combustion temperature is 100°C-200°C lower than original coal. Therefore, two sulfur release peaks of CWS are both lower than origin coal. Calcite is a cheap and better desulphurizing agent. Sulfur release of CWS which is added Calcite reduces to 47%At last, based on the experiments, the thermodynamic equilibrium software FactSage is applyed in this paper. Some coal water slurry sulfur release and slagging characteristics are simulated by this software, which are compared with experiments results. It is well accorded with the calculation, which plays an important role in our practice in the future.
