In this paper, based on the monitoring data, the method of coastal marine ecosystem health assessment was firstly introduced and applied to Tianjin coastal marine areas. The main results are as the following: Water environment: Although all of the monitoring data lead to a positive judgement that this areas lies in health status, there still exists huge secret worries about marine water quality. And one clear distributing character of water quality in Tianjin coastal marine areas is presented: the sea route of Tianjin harbor is the boundary to separate the south and the north areas of the overall areas according to different water quality states. In most of the north areas, outside Ji canal estuary, inorganic nitrogen's contents of all the stations surpass national standard and the voluminous stations point to the seriously polluted state. However, water quality of the south areas is generally much better except the estuaries of Qikou River, Duliujian River exceeding the third sort of national water quality standard. All the indexes of water environment in the whole coastal marine areas present a further deteriorative trend. Sediment environment: Comparing with the past years, the contents of organic carbon and sulfide have some lifting to some extent. However, the circumstance still doesn't cause serious damage to the ecosystem environment and influence the health of the whole ecosystem. According to national sediment quality standard, the monitoring results in all of the stations is within the range of the first sort. Biological residual toxicity: Due to the deterioration of water quality, oil, hydrargyrum, cadmium, plumbum, arsenic, and so on are accumulated in the biological bodies. The monitoring data to Mactra quadrangular is point a huge increase comparing with the past years and a further deteriorative trend. The arsenic content has surpassed the first sort of national standard and belongs to the second sort of seashell. The...
