2-chloro-5- (aminomethyl) pyridine is an important intermediate of nicotinamide pesticide. As a new pesticide, nicotinamide pesticide with diffusely effect and quick acts has a long period of validity. It is difficult to come into being drug resistance and has little environmental pollution. It is secure to human being and livestock. The 2-chloro-5- (aminomethyl) pyridine commercial production is not available in China now, so it is of great significance to do the research on its synthesis. The synthesis of2-chloro-5-methylpyridine, 2-chloro-5- chloromethylpyridine and 2-chloro-5- (aminomethyl) pyridine was conducted in this work. The final products were characterized by HNMR and IR ,which shows that the resultants are the objective products.2-chloro-5-methylpyridine was synthesized through 2 steps.β-picoline was treated with hydrogen peroxide to form intermediate N-oxide-3- methylpyridine then chloridized with benzoyl chloride to form 2-chloro-5-methylpyridine. The yield of the final product was up to 85.43%.2-chloro-5-methylpyridine was chloridized with sulfuryl chloride and initiated with azobisisobutyronitrile to produce 2-chloro-5-chloromethylpyridine, that has a yield up to 65.9%.2-chloro-5- (aminomethyl) pyridine was synthesized through 2 steps. 2-chloro-5- (aminomethyl) pyridine in solvent acetonitrile was treated with tetramine to form intermediate quarternary ammonium salt. It hydrolyzes in hydrochloric acid to form the final product. Effects of reaction time and quantity of raw material and acid were studied. In the optimum reaction condition, the yield was up to 89.6 %.With the feedstock ofβ-picoline, the yield of 2-chloro-5- (aminomethyl) pyridine was up to 50.44%.The primary industrial process design was also carried out, which includes the design of the reaction vessel, the hydrolyzing vessel, the rectifying column and the process flow.
