| Recent years, the discovery of C60 has stimulated more and more people to research new polyatom clusters, especially polynitrogen cluster. First, it will release significant amount of energy nearly 210x kJ for 1 mol Nx when decomposing. Second, it dissociates into only N2 which is environmentally friendly. So it has the potential for becoming green high energy density materials (HEDM). The development, prosperities and main uses of HEDM have been summarized in this paper. The research on N4 to N60 have been also stated in this study.Gas reaction method, liquid electrolyzing method and Chemosynthesis method have been used to synthesize polynitrogen clusters and find the optimal reaction conditions in this paper.The condition of gas reaction method were explored. This method used different ratio of ammonia and hydrogen at the condition of arc discharging. The results show 1:8 is the optimal ratio of ammonia and hydrogen. At this condition, the content of nitrogen is the most, 45.372%. The research has also showed the products can be existed in two conformations: crystal with the level spacing approximately of 0.28 nm, uncrystal rounded and random with the diameter of about 30 nm.In the liquid electrolyzing method, the solution of ammonia and oxydol were used as the reactants, and copper was used as the electrodes. Polynitrogen cluster N20 has been detected from the products. And the results show that the electrolyzing time is a important determinant factor.In chemosynthesis method, NCl3 and N3C4H9 were used as the reactants. Polynitrogen cluster N10 can been also detected from the products. |
