The Phaeocystis globosa red tide occurs frequently in the Southern and eastern Sea of China, resulting in the destruction of marine ecological environment and economic losses in recent years. P. globosa has a complex polymorphic life cycle involving in the form of different types of free-living cells and gelatinous colonies. The biomass of P. globosa was measured by visible, fluorescence absorption of chlorophyll a and resonance Rayleigh scattering of cells. The influence of salinity and N, P, Fe in the condition of adding algaecide on the growth of P. globosa was studied. Cell size and polysaccharide component of two strains (Shantou and Zhanjiang, china) were also carried out in the thesis. Some meaningful results were obtained.1. It was founded that P. globosa exhibited a clear red maximum at 681nm and a slight shoulder in the far-red region at 735nm and scattering peak at 550nm had relation to algae cell. The two peaks represented absorption of chlorophyll a. The biomass of P. globosa was measured by the methods of integratingsphere, fluorescence intensity and resonance Rayleigh scattering. Compared with cell counting measure, these methods were quick, simple and reliable. It was more important to analyze the sample continuously.2. Effects of heat stress indicated that the chl fluorescence induction showed different changes during the time course of 45℃ treatment with that of 35℃ and 40℃ treatment, the fluorescence first decreased and then increased, with a "burst" phenomenon. After reached the maximum value, fluorescence yield decreased and could not be restored.3. It was showed the range of adaptable salinity was great. The optimal salinity for the algae growth was 20‰ and P. globosa could growth in the condition of lower salinity, 3‰. The results showed that cell sizes uniformed by and large in the range of...
