Eutectoid steel is one kind of natural composite materials. The basic structure is made up of soft ferrite and hard cementite lamellar. Heavily cold drawn eutectoid steel wire has a great practical importance and is commonly used as a structural material when a very high strength is required, together with an acceptable level of toughness, as in suspension cables, tire cord, engineering springs, etc. Experimental results have revealed that the eutectoid steel enhanced by cold drawing can reach the fracture strength as high as 5.7GPa, which is about 1GPa higher than that of aging martensitic steels and heat treatment steels after deformation. It is known as the highest strength steel up to now. Therefore, to study on the cold-drawn eutectoid steels, especially the evolution mechanism of microstructures and its influence on mechanical properties has a directive impact on the practical production. In this paper, experimental methods like SEM, TEM M?ssbauer Spectroscopy and Three Dimensional Atom Probe are combined to study on the phase transformation behavior and microstructure evolution of cold-drawn...
