In recent years, long with high development of social economy and expansion of city life, production scale and content, the contamination of city rivers has been paid more and more attention and become hot in Environmental Sciences. Heavy metal and PCBs, owing to their permanent, bio-toxicity and biological enrichment, have long been typical contaminats in city rivers and become a active subject in international environmental science field. Suzhou Creek is important surface water in Shanghai and plays a good action in channeling and draining , shipping and irrigation. As a result of long-term contrived interference and contaminant discharge, its environmental capacity has been not able to charge big pollution burden and it is polluted seriously. Since 1980s, a series of cleaning project were implemented. The water quality was improved, but pollution was not removed completely. This is mostly because of the second pollution of bottom sediments. In this paper, the pollution character of heavy metal (including copper, zink, arsenic, lead, cadimium and mercury) and PCBs in overlying water, suspended matters and sediments from Suzhou Creek was studied as a whole. Contaminant's function mechanism between mediums and influence factor...
