Nitride and phosphate in some industrial wastewater and municipal wastewater is the main reason of entrophication of reserviors. How to lower the nitride and phosphate has been the important task of protecting the water. The paper mainly studied the removal of nitride and phosphate in model wastewater and municipal wastewater with modified bentonites, and analyzed the mechanism of removal of nitride and phosphate and disc -ussed the feasibility of actual application.Bentonite is one kind of mineral clays containing the aqueous aluminosilicate and there is abundance storage in our country. As it shows some special physical and chemical pro -perties, it is used in wastewater treatment. Natural bentonite did not lower the nitride and phosphate concentrations. But modified bentonites is effective to removal nitride and phosphate. In this paper, wenshan bentonite in Yunnan, as raw material, was modified by some kinds of ways such as purification sodium chloride treating. Finally La-loaded bentonite , Ce-loaded bentonite and Al,Fe cross-linked bentonite are prepared. Absorption of modified bentonite was characterized by XRD etc.measurement.The paper studied the removal of nitride and phosphate in model wastewater and municipal wastewater with modified bentonites, the effects of the amount of modified bentonite, time, pH and temperature on nitride and phosphate removal from model wastewater. The results show that natural bentonite did not lower the nitride and phosphate concentrations. But modified bentonite is effective to removal nitride and phosphate. Absorption of modified bentonite was effected by time, pH etc.It is a kind of economical and effective treatment method to use modified bentonite in treating wastewater with nitride and phosphate. It has a good applicable sense to use of our country' s bentonite resource.
