Biodiesel as well as Fatty acid formate, is a clean fuel with oxygen, it's commonly prepared from colza oil, soja oil, used frying oil, etc. by transesterification with low alcohol such as methanol and ethanol. As an excellent substitute of diesel, it's a green fuel, making great contribution to economy and society. In this paper, we studied influence of the physical and chemical properties of the feedstock oils on the alkaline-catalyzed transesterification process and determined the optimal reaction condition that produce the maximum ester content and yield. With a lot of experiments, we found that the molar ratio of methanol to oil and reaction time are the most important factors. Under the optimal condition, we got the best yield:94.6%for cotton oil and 97% for palm oil.In the other hand, we also studied the emulsible oil. We prepared a series of surfactant with HLB ranging from 3 to 6, combined with other factors influence emulsification, we gained one emulsible oil with 20% water, the stabilization time was more than 20 days.
