The electromagnetic separation of Si phase from (Al-Si) alloy melt been in vertical, incline and horizontal states were investigated experimentally in high frequency electromagnetic field. The major research substances were that: The effect of the various processing parameters, including composition of the alloy, pipe radius of separator, density of magnetic field, action time of electromagnetic field, inclination of melt sample, applying separator of single pipe and bunched pipes, melt been in static state and flowing state et al, on the separation efficiency was experimentally investigated in high frequency electromagnetic field. In addition, the migration trend of a magnetic precipitation phases (Al3Fe) in (Al-18%Si) melt was experimentally investigated in low frequency and high frequency electromagnetic field. The research results are as follows:1. Under the condition of the ration between the radius of separator (a) and the shin depth (δ) a/δ=2~3, the optimizing matching between the power of electric source and action time of electromagnetic field not only could cause to obtain the better matching between the electromagnetic pressure and inducing heat, but also could eliminate the unfavourable action of the second turbulent flow, and will contribute to enhance the separation efficiency.2. When a/δ=2~3, the applying the separator of a bunched pipes, no matter what melt was in vertical or incline or horizontal state, no matter what was in static or flowing state, could achieve good separation efficiency under the condition of the optimization matching between the electromagnetic processing parameters, and then the problem of restrain each other between separation efficiency and treading quantity of melt, and provide basis for the practical application of the high frequency electromagnetic separation.3. In high frequency electromagnetic field the primary magnetic precipitation phases (Al3Fe) were emerged the trend of migrating to the border of melt sample and the nonmagnetic oxidation particles were emerged the trend of migrating to the interior of melt sample in low frequency electromagnetic field. So applying the electromagnetic separation with the high frequency electromagnetic field not only the nonmagnetic precipitation phase but also the magnetic precipitation in melt all could be migrated to the border of melt sample, and then make the melt obtain purifying.4. Based on the basis principle of the high frequency electromagnetic separation, a new approach for preparation of a gradient functional materials. In this paper, the electromagnetic forces acting on the precipitation phases in melt inalternative and electromagnetic field were analyzed and discussed.
