Fe3Al,Ni3Al,Ni3Al+Cr, three kinds of intermetallic coating, was synthesized by electrothermal explosive spraying method and characterised by SEM, XRD and micro-hardness tester. The research indicated that the hardness of the radicel was enhanced after Fe3Al coating was created on its surface, the abrasion mechanism of the coating on room temperature resulted in the furrow and cutting effect of sand to it, and the erosion mechanism on elevated temperature resulted in the desquamation of the oxide on its surface. Compact Al2O3 was created on the surface of the Fe3Al coating and it have the effect protecting the radicel.
